The Lomography Petzval Portrait Lens

We were more than a little excited discovering this kickstarter campaign for The Lomography Petzval Portrait Lens project. For any of you out there that have an affinity for shooting with antique cameras and really connect with the idea of good bokeh, you have to check this out. The idea of this lens seems like the perfect marriage between technology advancements in souped-up sensor sizes with the high-quality glass art lens. With a deep history in super-sharp center and swirly luscious backgrounds, being able to achieve this effect in camera is not lost on the purist.

The Petzval lens is designed to work with both analog and digital cameras, Nikon and Canon mounts. The retail launch price will be around $775 dollars. These cameras will ship to kickstarter backers sometime in early 2014. The funding period is still open until the end of August so you have a couple weeks left to get your piece of the 19th Century!
