Seung-Hwan Oh

Photographer Seung-Hwan Oh has turned his art into an ephemeral, alchemical process that is always evolving and changing over years by introducing homegrown bacteria to the surface of his prints, which means that in a sense they are forever in flux and incorporate a sense of self-destruction.

Oh’s website describes the process:

“As the microbes consume light-sensitive chemical over the course of months or years, the silver halides destabilize, obfuscating the legibility of foreground, background, and scale.”
