Edwin Rosskam

Edwin Rosskam was hired by the Farm Security Administration to document the migration of people from the deep south to Northern Cities such as Chicago. These images were taken in the mid-forties and show daily black life on the Southside of the city.

Richard Wright, who had moved to the city from the South in 1927 collaborated the the Rosskam’s on a book entitled 12 Million Black Voices.
